My Story

When, during my third pregnancy, my midwife suggested that becoming a doula might be something that suited me, I initially waved her suggestion away.

I thought birth was amazing! If there was anything you could wake me up for in the middle of the night, that would be it...

But who would ever want to have me present at theirs? And those doulas, weren't they actually just women without real expertise who came to interfere with other people's intimate business?

It took me a while before I was able to put my own scepticism and doubts aside. Maybe the thing was that I just could not take any other direction in my life; maybe it is simply in my blood. But about a year after giving birth to my third child, I participated in my first training at   BIA Doula in Amsterdam.

As soon as I started to have my doula clients, the floodgates were opened. I found out how well this profession suits me, how beautiful it is to me and above all how much, as a doula, I can effectively give to others.
